There is plenty of sun and sand to go around in Lebanon, with 225 kilometers (140 miles) of prime Mediterranean shore stretching lazily along the Western length of the country from its northernmost to its southernmost extremities. Beach season takes up nearly half the year from around April to October, with long sunny spells and friendly temperatures (20-32°C / 68-90°F), making it ideal for fun water-sport activities. But don’t worry; there are also plenty of activities to take advantage of even in autumn and winter all along Lebanon’s scenic coast.

Lebanon’s coastline alternates between sandy and rocky beaches, offering you an interesting variety of terrain and designated seaside activities. The coast north of Beirut is mostly rocky as the mountain range descends sharply toward the Mediterranean Sea, creating spectacular vistas of sheer cliffs and colorful sunsets over the sparkling water. The southern coast is fragrant with colorful citrus groves and banana trees, giving way to some of the country’s best-preserved and remote sandy beaches.

Nature enthusiasts have the chance to explore our unique Mediterranean ecosystem at the Palm Islands Reserve, located five kilometers (three miles) off the coast of Tripoli. The reserve is a prime locale for observing Lebanon’s coastal flora and fauna, including endangered sea turtles, seals, and over 300 species of migratory birds. The well-preserved beaches at the Tyre Coast Nature Reserve are also known for their rich marine and freshwater habitats.

Tourists looking for adventure will enjoy diving, waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing, jet skiing, paragliding, and much more along Lebanon’s coast. Snorkelers will get to explore magnificent submerged Phoenician and Roman ruins off the coast of Tyre (Sur).

Traditional beach enthusiasts have several options to choose from.
